Early retirement on ill health grounds UK

I am a 60 year old living near Southend City. I have suffered with PPMS for the last sixteen years. With various adjustments I have continued to work for the local authority housing section. Since covid I have worked full time from home. I am now finding that poor sleep, fatigue and despite painkillers and anti depressants I am finding it to hard to continue working with the stress of managing MS and a stressful job. I am looking for advice regarding the legal approach and process for seeking ill health early retirement. Apologies for long post. Take care everybody and thanks in advance for any advice.

@Bracleystaff I worked for central govt in 2018 took Ill health retirement. If you have a mortgage see if You have critical illness cover you may be able to claim. If you work look at access to work.

Talk to ur union rep who can support u & outline ur options for going forward. They can also represent u & support u at any meetings. Do u also have access to an employee assistance scheme (not HR or OH) although u can also work out ur options and/or arrange a meeting with ur line manager & HR. (I’m waiting to hear back from both EA & union rep at mo) so can completely empathise although I’m 39 (so could be worse) chin up chuck best of luck!!!!👍💪🫶
