Ocular Migraines?

Five years ago I had optic neuritis in my left eye and I have just been diagnosed with having ocular migraines. I have mild headaches with blurred vision in that eye when straining my eyes. Not sure if this is caused my the ms or if it's because I'm over 40 and I need bifocals... Anyone else experience anything like this?

@betty I have had migraines since I was a child and then when I was 25 I suddenly had prolonged periods of time with what I can only describe as a disco in my eye and some pressure like pain behind the eye but not a migraine headache or any other migraine symptoms. My migraines typically last max 3 days but these eye parties lasted weeks, I have had them in the left eye and the right eye at different times about once a year for the 4 years since. At the time the GP said, "mm, ocular migraines?" and that was that. I was diagnosed in March with RRMS and my neurologist now thinks they were more likely to have been MS rather than migraine. My understanding is that what marks them out as different from migraines is that they last for such a long time really, and they can do the blood test to look for markers for optic neuritis can't they? My neuro gave me that test and it was fine...I assume that means at the time they took blood I wasn't experiencing the inflammation at that time - which I knew I wasn't but I suppose they have to check these things at diagnosis?

@betty , if you had a migraine, yous sure would know about it. it's like no other type of headache in its intensity and general debilitating effects. I think you put it right that you have MS-related visual problems, which can strain your eyes, leading to a headache. It may be wise to consult an optician to see whether some glasses may have a beneficial effect.
