Scared to start Tysabri...

I'm finally about to start Tysabri but I have some concerns about my immune system. I am very prone to getting ear infections. It happens so easily that it's ridiculous. That makes me a bit concerned that my immune system is compromised... and that I'm probably at a decent risk for PML. I'm JC negative but still. PML is so freaky. But I've had three relapses since April so...

@valcrist , being diagnosed with MS means that our immune systems are already compromised, so whether Tysabri makes you more prone to these infections remains to be seen. As for the risk of PML, you will be closely monitored for the associated risk factors. If this monitoring shows that the risk is increasing to unacceptable levels, then your treatment will be reviewed. So, PML is a known risk, which will be managed.

I have had 14 infusions now and it has been life changing, no new activity whatsoever, improved mobility and everything.... I remain JC negative and have no side effects. I'm sure it will do wonders for you too.
