Pain changed to numbness!

Hi, I am sitting here in a state of panic. I have RRMS and have always had pain in my right foot and ankle. The pain has now been replaced by numbness. Will this go away as it is quite scary.

Hi @tessb , we can get sensory symptoms, e.g. a burning that hasn't been burnt, an itch you can't scratch, etc., but not physical pain. Not unless we have adopted a bad practice, whilst compensating for a weakness, which has put unnatural pressure on muscles/joints. Neuro-physio assessments can identify and make recommendations for improvement. Following recovery from a relapse, we can be left with symptoms from some residual damage. These are usually sensory by nature (https://www.mstrust.org.uk/a-z/altered-sensations). We may have to learn to live with such symptoms, although there are medications available to help with this. Have a word with your MS Nurse to discuss this.
