UK: Simvastatin Phase 3 Trial (MS-STAT2)

If you are Secondary Progressive MS (SPMS), between 20 and 65 with an EDSS of between 4.0 and 6.5, then this trial may be for you. Details here :- https://www.ucl.ac.uk/ion/research/centres/queen-square-multiple-sclerosis-centre/ms-clinical-trials/ms-stat2-trial

Hi @stumbler It might just be me, but the link doesn't seem to work. And please have a lay in sometimes.

@highlander , Hmm, the link seems fine. but you could try this one :- https://ukctg.nihr.ac.uk/trials/trial-details/trial-details?trialNumber=ISRCTN82598726 What's a lay-in?

GREAT news! isn't it? Hope this trial results in an effective treatment/add-on treatment for progressive forms of MS (SPMS, at least). Specially since simvastatin is non-biologic, cheap drug. Following this link you'll find the publication of the Phase II study that proved high-doses of simvastatin (around 80mg) are safe and tolerable: https://www.thelancet.com/action/showPdf?pii=S0140-6736%2813%2962242-4 Best of luck for all of you participating in the trial!
