Is hearing loss an MS relapse?

So for the last 1.5 weeks I’ve been having increased episodes of feeling lightheaded, buzzing noise in my left ear and nausea. I didn’t think much of it at the beginning, but started getting worried when I couldn’t hear properly in my left ear. Sounds like a robot speaking. I went to a walk in clinic and the doc said he couldn’t see any infection in my ear but prescribed me antibiotic ear drops and sent a referral to an ENT. I went to get a hearing assessment and the audiologist said that nothing is wrong with my tests and to go to ER if I get ringing in my ear with nausea and dizziness at the same time. So I went to the ER the next day and after getting blood work, CT scan and ECG done, the doc said I’m fine and to come back if symptoms get worse. This was frustrating to hear because I know something is wrong, perhaps an MS relapse. If so, why didn’t the ER doc give me some prednisone? It’s tough getting appropriate care during the holidays. I’m concerned about either developing Meniere’s disease or another MS relapse. Any advise? Update Jan 6: Thanks for all your advises everyone. I was able to connect with my neurologist and started a high dose IV Solu-Medrol for 3 days to see if it will heal a potential peripheral nerve infection. Hope this works ! ! !

I don’t think an ER doc, would prescribe steroids for ear symptoms like this (could be wrong). I think you need to talk to a neurologist or maybe at least a pa about if it’s a relapse and to get prednisone

Yes definitely need to speak to MS neurologist if you can. Those are quite unusual symptoms to be related to MS but not unheard of. Actually the very first thing I noticed a couple of months before was diagnosed was when I picked up the phone at work but thought the phone was dead as couldn’t hear the ring tone! Not sure if that was a relapse but that happened around the same time as onset of MS so could have been.
