MS HUG

Symptoms of an MS Hug is it feels like someone is squeezing your chest so tight and have trouble breathing. The symptoms first started in the first lockdown and first I wasn’t sure if I had Covid or mt heart was playing up BUT when I was speaking with my nurse she was very sure that it was an MS Hug. I sometimes take Gaviscon when this is happening but there isn’t anything you can take but I found sitting somewhere quiet and taking deep breaths in and out usually helps. Hopefully this may help someone that has these symptoms and not sure what it may be. I did giggle when my nurse first told me as I thought she was joking with me😀

@SammyC , ah, yes, the "Hug". It's actually caused by your intercostal muscles going into spasms, e.g. like a cramp. These muscles are located between your ribs and therefore encompass your chest. There are some details of this symptom, which does have another name of Banding :- https://mstrust.org.uk/a-z/ms-hug
