Planning a wedding with MS

So in just over 2 weeks I get married but although the joys of getting married are wonderful beyond belief. But the stresses of planning a wedding can present an increase challenge for someone with MS, as I'm sure so many can identify. So for the last few weeks, I've been trying to cope and manage working full time as a mental health nurse, planning this wedding and dealing with increased intensity of pain down the left side of my body. (Eye, leg, arm). To the point at times moving those limbs become so difficult. This is further compounded by the increased heat. So last week I developed flu like symptoms (COVID-19). Saturday I tested positive, so have been self isolating to recover, although these symptoms have cleared. So the expectations is that I am back at work Sunday if testing negative. But I'm still left with the struggle of the MS symptoms. I had originally planned to take annual leave from end of next week. To be able to rest prior to the wedding, but I worried about returning to work next week still struggling and whether it is worth extending my sick leave. As I have been really concerned that I would not be able to fully enjoy the wedding because of the pain/ache. This in turn is causing a lot of anxiety and further stress. However, I am unclear as to where I stand being off sick from work and then getting married where some of my colleagues would also be attending. How this would look.

Stop worrying about what people will think, take extended sick leave, cos I guarantee the stress will trigger your MS with a vengeance. Life is short, get over bs people politics and do whats best for your body and health. Thats all that matters.

Hi @Rebecca_Ekundayo , I agree- you’ve not been well and need to prioritise your recovery and ability to enjoy your wedding. No one should expect you to undermine your health, so put yourself first and start looking forward to your big day!
