Exercise and MS

What are your views on the right amount of exercise for somebody with MS? Guessing it depends on how far progressed the disease is. In my case, it is still early on. I have had one round of Lemtrada and at this stage am fully mobile. Quite like jogging on basis that one day, I may not have that luxury. Currently pushed it up to 7 miles. Is this too much? Will it be good or bad for me in long term? Will ask my neuro too, but keen to understand perspective of my fellow MSers Thanks very much

@pv04 , with MS in the background, it is important to keep ourselves as healthy as we can be. Then, if (and that's a big if), we do have a relapse, our starting position is better, which would bode well for our outcome of the relapse. So, do what you enjoy. You'll know if you over-do it......

Well I have just run London marathon and know that another user on here ran it too. To be honest the training was so tough and completely wiped me. I have always done exercise though. I have now scaled back the running a bit. I still run 4-5 days a week but less miles. I have found having a strong core really helpful. I do a lot of Pilates and core strengthening work. Last year a relapse meant I lost a lot of sensation and full use of left leg but my right side was able to compensate for this. The downside of this was my right overcompensates and this has caused some imbalance but have physio exercises that help with this. I am hoping to have Lemtrada in September. I would say go with however you feel and enjoy it. Running isn't just about physical wellbeing but mental too.
