From Work to disability
Hi everyone. I’ve been on the furlough scheme since my diagnosis basically and I’m not fit for the job I had any more I know this. My employer didn’t really keep in touch and I haven’t a clue where I go or what happens from here. Do I have to declare myself unfit for work or is that a doctor?
Feeling a tad lost alone in the fog again.

Could you ask your employer to make adjustments?
If it were me I’d go to my GP and speak about how you’re feeling and get a Fit For Work not. Don’t make rush decisions about you future - you are entitled to 6mths full wages, 3months half wages and in that time work toward a decision. I’d talk to my Union and see what Counselling Services are available to me (your GP might have some Service availability). I’d be looking about adjustments that might be available (contract, working days/hours) to help me stay and cope better with my job. This is how I’d be thinking. Remember - you can only Self Certificate for the first seven days only and then it’s for the GP. Good luck and be kind to yourself!🍀
