Diagnosed with MS yesterday

Hi everyone, I don’t know what to say, but I have been diagnosed with MS yesterday, i read some information on internet and i felt so scared. my mind is so confused and I can’t think proper and don’t know what to do and couldn’t sleep yesterday at all. However this morning MS nurse called me and advised me to join this community for helping and she was very nice and helpful with some good information. I am 29 years old professional, I live alone with no family or closer friends around, cuz i just move to UK 2 years ago. I feel scared to tell my family back home. And i am also afraid to tell my friends here in uk, cuz I don’t know their reactions and I don’t want to look week in their faces. I would love to have some of your advices please. And how can I present this sickness to others and when I return to work. I am currently living in York but I will travel to London and stay there for few days to clean my mind. Cuz York is very quiet and makes me overthinking. I would appreciate if i can speak or see anyone. Thank you in advance for any advice or tips or information.

Hi, welcome to the site. A diagnosis is a truly scary time. Telling others is deeply personal. Some people like to tell friends and family. Others like to wait until they feel ready. I would say look to yourself. Get what you need first and foremost. We all come to terms with MS in our own way and time. 🤗

Hey there, I would advise on telling the person you trust the most when you feel ready to share. When I was diagnosed I only told people that i had everyday contact. I was ashamed so I was keeping it as a secret. Now i am at the point where I can blurt is out, I have MS, so what... Anyway, do not be harsh on yourself, give yourself some time to digest the shock and then you will see it more clearly, I think going to London to keep your mind calm is a great idea. It is still you, nothing has changed, you got this :)
