No proper diagnosis yet - confused & anxious!

Hi everyone! first post here but have been lurking for quite a while 😉 As background I have always suffered with some health anxiety/depression after losing my precious son James who was 2 1/2yrs old from neuroblastoma in 2002 but went onto have my daughter who is now 18 who has got me through the dark times and my lovely husband. Anyhow saw a neurologist in April 2020 as had crawling sensations/pressure headaches in my temple for months previously. He was reluctant to do mri but as my Dad had died of brain tumour I had one done. It came back clear BUT found some areas consistent with demyelination but he didn't know how long they'd been there. He said he didn't think it was ms as I didn't have any symptoms. Questioned me about past history and I told him of a constant tingling in my feet which started a couple of years before but which I had put down to the menopause & starting hrt. I forgot to tell him about a heaviness in my legs/buzzing feelings/altered sensations/achiness in them for about 5-6 months in 2019. He suggested to have a blood test which came back with high ANA. Said to have a repeat mri in 6 months. I went for further tests with Rheumatologist as I was getting bad backache/neck pain/stiffness/tightness & to find a reason for high ana. Tests came back clear. Went & had physio/osteopathic treatment but little improvement. Then in September started getting burning on soles of feet & the heaviness returned & spread up my legs and prickling pins and needles sensations & spasms in feet very uncomfortable. Numb patch on top of foot & then numb toe & then both toes. Hands would feel numb in bed and then a tickling/crawling feeling down left side of my body. Fingertips felt sore and some numb fingers. Internal shivering as well. Went back to Neurologist who said it was all down to anxiety and muscleskeltol pain. Had had full spine mri in October which was clear. Was sent for 2nd opinion to MS Specialist Neurologist at London Bridge who wanted me to have 2nd mri with contrast before seeing me. This was done & saw him at end of Nov 21. This showed the demyelination - numerous periventricular white matter lesions in margins of lateral ventricle etc. & less conspicuous in sub-cortical temperal horn & right thalamus. But no enhancing lesions & no significant changes from April mri! Neurologist was reluctant to diagnose & left it at RIS (did talk about treatments but said he didn't want me to start any yet) as said still not conclusive as symptoms could be put down to my history of anxiety. To be fair I did fall apart and couldn't take everything in nor my husband! He said to have a repeat scan in a year's time! I'm on Citalopram which is helping & have got pregablin from the Specialist to take if I need to. My feet tingle/prickle/burn etc & legs hurt most of the time and I feel so tired and achy. Arms and hands are tingly and pins & needles sometimes. Have booked another telephone call with Specialist but don't know how to take this forward - do I insist on treatment? Hate being in limboIand! Impossible questions but would be very grateful for any advice! So sorry for long post xx

Hi sorry you are having so much problems,I think you should insisted on some more tests so you can get a diagnosis, what is your diet like? I have noticed a big difference since I stopped eating gluten and went on the best bet diet, also I use a tens machine in the evenings every night and it does seem to help with my legs but magnesium spray on your legs at night will help with leg spasms/pain,I was diagnosed over 10 Years ago and I'm always trying new things to help hope you do get diagnosed soon but my experience with some doctors you need to insist

Thank you so much for your reply and for your tips! I'm sorry you have been diagnosed. I do struggle with making decisions the consultant seemed to be leaving the decision to me & I got very frightened & backed off as he said in his position he would wait. I just wanted to be told I definitely had it or I didn't and then tell me what I should do! What were your symptoms before diagnosis? Mine seem non specific 😒
