Newly Diagnosed

Hi, I have recently been diagnosed with MS. My neurologist diagnosed me in October with possible MS and I had the confirmed diagnosed from my consultant yesterday where I also met my very nice MS nurse. Because I have had possibly 4+ relapses in less than 2 years they have asked me to read up on all medications that I can take (tablets, injection, infusion) and decided with one I would like to try. This is where I am stuck! There are so many options. They have also asked if I would possibly want to opt into a trial that will begin in January. I'm really looking for peoples thoughts on the medications and there own experiences, especially side effects. Thank you!

Hi, Sounds like quite active MS. Therefore I think Tysabri would be a good option. It is very effective and for most people it stops relapses, there are minimal side effects too. However there is the complication with the JC virus. Has your neurologist talked through this one with you?

He explained that the JC virus could be a complication with some of the medications. They are carrying out a full check on my bloods, including testing if I have been exposed at any point to JC. I have another appointment soon with my nurse to discuss the medications that would like to try.
