Tecfidera or Ocrevus - mindfield...

I'm newly diagnosed - first MRI in Feb and 2nd one in Oct showed several new plaques - off to see MS nurse on 1st Dec - done some reading and i think im looking at Tecfidera (can get locally) or Ocrevus (out of area and likely 4+month waiting list) Any wise words anyone???
@alrian

Hey, I had the same option of Tecfidera or Ocrevus, and I went with Tecfidera for a number of personal reasons. I really don't like needles so an infusion was a lot to process and wrap my head around on top of the shock of being diagnosed. Also my lesions weren't so advanced that there was a need for the more "intense" treatments. I think the stats are that Ocrevus reduces relapses by 70%, and Tecfidera reduces them by 50% (not 100% sure though 😅). I think it would depend on how you feel. I would probably go for Tecfidera based on the out of area and 4+month waiting list for Ocrevus, and talk to your MS nurse about staying on that waiting list and the possibility of switching to Ocrevus if you find Tecfidera isn't the one for you in a few months time

@Mrman93

I would go with Ocrevus its more effective and you're much less likely to relapse on it. I've heard stories of Tecfidera working for a while until it didn't and I just personally wouldn't take the risk. prevent as much damage as possible!
