When death is actually a good thing...

There are five diseases that damage the brain: epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, Huntington’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and Alzheimer’s disease. (Pinel 2018). All of these diseases activate apoptotic programmed brain cell death. This is not as bad as it sounds: apoptosis is considered a vital component of normal cell turnover, proper development and functioning of the immune system, hormone-dependent atrophy, embryonic development and chemical-induced cell death. What does this mean for someone like me, who lives with MS? Apoptosis is helping my brain renew itself – cell by cell. This is true for all brains, whether they are injured through disease or are normal, healthy brains
