Feel absolutely horrible.

Just over a month ago, I was diagnosed with MS after about a year of struggling with stuff going numb and a variety of other symptoms. Right now, my family are still getting to grips with the fact I have MS and aren't fully sure what they need to do. I got home from school last night feeling exhausted and in a lot of pain so my Grandma ran me a steaming hot bath. I hated the heat before my diagnosis and it's very annoying now but I didn't want to be rude and decline her offer. As soon as I got in, pain shot up my legs and they went numb while my arms started to shake. After I got out the bath, I felt really dizzy and even worse than I did before and then passed out for no reason. A day later I still don't feel much better and am wondering how long this will last. Any advice will be much appreciated.

Hi Gabi, thank you for sharing this. It IS so hard to come to terms with a scary diagnosis. Please remember that you (and your loved ones) are allowed to take as much space and time needed to adjust to this new normality. You might already know what follows, but I'll tell you again: any activity which raises your core temperature (hot baths, sauna, extreme exercise) might temporarily worsen your symptoms. This is because your neurons aren't working properly anymore - they lack their insulation and cannot process heat properly. This might look like a relapse, but 99/100 it isn't. Let your body rest for a while. Allow yourself to recover. If the situation doesn't improve spontaneously, seek your neuro's advise. Could you keep us posted?
