Morning. I have started to have a stick on standby for going out. It is more of a balance than a load-bearing thing. Being an ex-cyclist who likes light, blingy carbon fibre things I decided to go for a carbon stick. Not bloody likely as they are 60+ quid. All black, as subtle as I can make it. No patterns or stickers for me, not my thing. I have spoken to a friend (a composite engineer with Renault F1 - quite handy!) and she recommended the right stuff for the shaft. £25 delivered. The ferrules for the bottom are cheap as chips and easy to get. I am struggling to find a supplier of partially finished handles that don't have a self-tapping screw to drive into a wooden body. I just need a 40x144mm plug and wondered if anyone had had any prior experience with DIY cane making? Thank you.
