Relationship issues

Does anyone else have difficulties with forming relationships with other people? This has been the case ever since my diagnosis 5 years ago. I have been unable to begin a relationship with anyone ever since, including finding a girlfriend. I mean I want to, but seem reluctant at times. Is this even related to MS, or should I just get a place on Take Me Out :P

The right person will listen & understand all the MS issues, if you give them half a chance & be upfront about it. I find myself not talking to my own husband about my MS difficulties. He eventually sat me down a few weeks back & said I was getting "prickly" every time he asked me how I was feeling. I told him I was sick of him (and my mom) always asking me if I was ok. Plus I'm still sort of burying my head in the sand about MS so yes, I'm prickly about it. I still don't share with him how tired I get, how my really awful memory is affecting everything, how I'm still trying to digest all of this, etc. Anyway, I recognize I need to stop this behavior & let people in but I can see how, with MS, you wouldn't want to let people get close. That can cause relationship issues, though. I think I'm learning that the right person will be easy to open up to, will listen to you & understand. I'm sure the right person will come along - you just have to put yourself out there! - Michelle

Dilly do you attend church or fund raisers, I think those are the places where you will find the most understand and kind women. Potter
