Starting Steroids eeek

I am due to start steroids tonight when I collect the prescription for my current relapse. Anyone tell me more??? :)
@Stumbler

Well, these aren't the same steroids that get handed about around body builders. They're a steroid that the body produces naturally. It just gives your system a bit of a kick-start to get a recovery under way. It's not an instantaneous response, you'll notice improvements over a 6-8 week period. Hope this helps

Hi @DanRB80, I had my first dose of steroids back in June of this year and was really quite nervous beforehand about the possible 'roid-rage' side-effects but I was really pleasantly surprised. I was given a 5-day course of methylprednisolone, which involved me taking 5 tiny little blue pills after breakfast every day for 5 days. The biggest issue I had was that the tablets taste absolutely foul! I highly recommend taking them with something strong-tasting like orange juice to help with this! Other than that I felt really quite sprightly and energised whilst on them, though I did notice that I 'crashed' a little bit afterwards, not sure if I picked up a bit of a bug or whether it was just a 'come-down' effect. I also experienced an increase in appetite for a couple of days, nothing too bad but regular munchies and wanting to snack! It's always tricky as you never know how long it would take you to recover without them but I was about to start a new job when I relapsed so it was definitely worth it to be able to walk in on the first day without my cane! Good luck, hope they help xx
