Mri results

Hey! I got diagnosed with ms about 5 years ago minus the lumber puncture multiple lesions on head and spine. Last mri was 3 years ago. We discussed coming off plegridy as I haven’t had a true full on relapse in 9 years since I was diagnosed with cis. Anyway just got back off holiday to my results which indicate there are 2 new small lesions in brain. The wording from neuro was “the mri scan of the brain showed two small lesions in the cerebral hemispheres in keeping with minimal disease progression” I can’t work out it this is good news, bad news, or just sort of mediocre. Obviously no new lesions would be best but 2 small ones with no big relapses ( I have had some tingling… slight facial numbness go on) seems ok over 3-4 years, so thinking of staying on plegridy as maybe it’s working. What experiences have you guys had between mri scans?
@KristinHardy

Obviously, lesions represent damage but studies have shown MRIs lit up like pinball machines with lesions but no disease progression and, conversely, lots of progression with no new lesions. Difficult to unpack. But as for considering stopping DMTs because you haven't had a major relapse, that seems kind of like telling a diabetic to stop taking insulin because they haven't gone into a diabetic coma. Isn't preventing the bad outcome the whole point of taking the drug? Might be a good question to ask the neurologist.

Thanks for your reply. My neurologist has very much advised continuing with the plegridy but he’s not the one who has to take it :) Reading the side effects I could mess up myself more than the ms would it’s always a struggle with any medication I guess. If there were no lesions then the idea was to come off it, even though he was still against that.
