Walking aids: a study
The Effect of an Ankle-Foot Orthosis versus Functional Electrical Stimulation on Walking Performance, for People with Multiple Sclerosis, by Emma Davidson
Hi, my name is Emma and I’m a 5th year Masters student at the University of Strathclyde. For the last two years my research has focused on the effect of walking aids such as an ankle brace on the movement of people with MS.
You are invited to participate in a research study involving MSers. Statistics show that many individuals with MS will require assistance with walking at some stage. The aim of this investigation is to find out whether a custom made ankle-foot orthosis or functional electrical stimulation device allows participants with MS to walk better and faster.
The investigation requires you to attend three appointments at the National Centre for Prosthetics and Orthotics at the University of Strathclyde for walking assessments. Travel expenses will be reimbursed for your appointments.
Should you wish to find out more, or for any questions please do not hesitate to contact me via email: emma.davidson@strath.ac.uk
